Science Venerable Press is an independent publisher in the history and philosophy of mathematics and science. We are inspired by the life and work of David Eugene Smith (1860-1944) and aim to carry on his tradition of exploring both the human and the transcendent dimensions of these subjects.

The term “the science venerable”—Smith’s favorite description of mathematics—originated with the Indian astronomer Aryabhata (476-550 A.D.):

Having paid homage to Brahma, to Earth, to the moon, to Mercury, to Venus, to the Sun, to Mars, to Jupiter, to Saturn, and to the constellations, Aryabhata in the City of Flowers, sets forth the science venerable.

Science Venerable Press is an imprint of Comarus Analytics LLC and a sister of the Aleo Review.
